Fully Synthetic 5W40 Engine Oil

5w40 diesel oil is a synthetic engine oil designed specifically for diesel engines. Modern engines face different challenges depending on how and where you drive, so 5W-40 car engine oil has been developed to handle temperature extremes – from cold winter mornings to hot summer traffic jams.

This versatile oil maintains its protective properties whether you’re facing -30°C cold starts or running at high temperatures around 50°C. That’s why it’s particularly well-suited to high-performance engines and can help improve both fuel economy and component lifespan.

We only stock genuine Honda parts and Honda-approved products made by certified technicians. If you need a different grade, don’t worry – we carry various types of Honda engine oils to meet every requirement.

Not sure if 5W-40 is the right engine oil for your Honda? We can help you find the perfect match for your specific model. Our complete range of Honda engine oil and fluids will have exactly what your vehicle needs.

How to Find Out if You Need 5W40 Oil for Your Car

Do you know if your vehicle needs 5W-40 oil? Here’s how to determine the right oil grade for your specific car.
1

Check Your Owner’s Manual

Your owner’s manual provides the manufacturer’s recommendations for oil grade and viscosity. Look in the maintenance or specifications section where oil requirements are clearly listed.
2

Look for Oil Cap Markings

Many vehicles have the recommended oil grade printed directly on the oil filler cap. Pop your bonnet and check if 5W-40 is written on the cap itself.
3

Think About Your Climate and Driving Style

5W-40 is great for vehicles operating in areas with wide temperature variations or for engines subjected to higher stress. If you live somewhere with cold winters and warm summers or regularly drive in demanding conditions, 5W-40 might be ideal.

5W-40 Engine Oil FAQs

5W-40 engine oil is one of the most common types of oil. It helps a car’s engine operate and protects parts from friction, keeping you on the road. 5W-40 can be used in many different Honda engines, including some Honda Civic Type-Rs, the Honda Elysion, the Honda Integra DC2, and the Honda S2000.
For most vehicles using 5W-40 synthetic oil, manufacturers recommend changes every 5,000-7,500 miles. Your specific car may have different requirements based on age, driving conditions, and engine type. Check your owner’s manual for the recommended interval.
The right Honda oil for your vehicle depends entirely on the model, engine size, and fuel type. You need to choose the correct grade of oil to ensure it will work in low and high temperatures. Both 5W-40 and 5W-30 oil have the same winter (W) viscosity grade, meaning they work at temperatures as low as -30°C. However, 5W-40 engine oil performs better at higher temperatures of up to 50°C than 5W-30, which is effective up to 30°C. Engine oil that is too thick will not run smoothly through the engine, and thin oil will not properly protect the car parts. If you aren’t sure which oils and fluids you need for your vehicle, check the owner’s manual.
While mixing 5W-30 and 5W-40 is safer than mixing oils with vastly different viscosities, it’s still not recommended for regular use. Both have the same cold viscosity (5W) but different operating temperature viscosities. This combination is unlikely to cause immediate damage for short-term use in an emergency, but you should change to the manufacturer’s recommended grade at the earliest opportunity.
Unopened 5W-40 engine oil typically has a shelf life of about 5 years when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, it’s best to use the oil within 2 years. Always check for any discolouration or sediment before use, as these are signs the oil may have degraded. If in doubt, it’s better to purchase fresh oil rather than risk using degraded products on your engine components.
For most vehicles using 5W-40 synthetic oil, manufacturers recommend changes every 5,000-7,500 miles. Your specific car may have different requirements based on age, driving conditions, and engine type. Check your owner’s manual for the recommended interval.
