What Does the IMRC Do?
The Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) system adjusts the airflow inside your engine depending on speed and load. At low RPM, it keeps airflow controlled for better fuel efficiency and smoother idling. At higher RPM, it opens fully to allow maximum air intake, improving performance and power. If the IMRC solenoid fails, the system cannot switch correctly, leading to poor drivability and triggering fault codes such as P2004.
